HIV Certification Training

This training is being made available to teachers of grades 4-12 who are responsible for instruction of students in HIV Prevention. State law mandates that every public school district provides HIV Prevention education at every building level (elementary, middle and high school). This hybrid training provides participants with the law, overview of HIV Prevention, transmission and treatment, effective curriculum for HIV and reproductive health education, the role of the Reproductive Health Advisory Committee, and answering students´ sensitive questions. Participants will understand the law as it pertains to Reproductive Health Education and HIV Prevention in the school setting, comprehend basic HIV facts, understand what makes an effective curriculum and feel comfortable talking about this topic with students. To gain maximum benefit from this course, participants should know what curricula their local School Board has approved. This is not a curriculum training.
