This one day training will be geared toward supporting individuals with ASD that have solid language skills. It will guide learners in developing a better understanding of the role Theory of Mind plays in students with ASD, and the impact of social cognitive deficits. A variety of learning strategies will be provided including Michelle Garcia Winner’s seminal work in perspective taking, thoughts and feelings, thinking with our eyes, expected vs. unexpected behavior, and social behavior mapping. This training is appropriate for special education teachers, school social workers, speech pathologists, and parents. Lunch will be provided.
