For the past 7 years, GISD has conducted Braillist/Paraeducator training for those working with students with Visual Impairments. This year’s training will include an introduction to braille (UEB & Nemeth Code), tactile graphics, braille translation software and embossing (Duxbury/BrailleBlaster, Scientific Notebook), and assistive technology (BrailleNote Touch+, iPad with VoiceOver, Screen Readers). We will be utilizing Cyral Miller and Debra Sewell's workbook, 'A Paraeducator's Handbook for Working With Students With Visual Impairments'. Local participants will be provided a promo code for attendance and discounted registration fee(s).
