Description
Healthy and Responsible Relationships: HIV, Other STIs, and Pregnancy Prevention – (HRR) Michigan Model for Health teaching module for grades 9-12. The 22 skill-based lessons in this module address HIV, other STIs, and pregnancy prevention at the high school level. HRR is an abstinence-based curriculum; however, it provides three options for implementation. Content focuses on recognizing and building healthy relationships, decision making, personal responsibility, consequences of sexual behaviors, parents & families as the primary sexuality educators, benefits of abstinence for young people, and sexuality as being lifelong and part of every individual. HRR has been aligned to the 2006 National Health Education Standards Before teaching these lessons in Michigan schools, they must first be approved by the school’s Board of Education. Teachers must also complete an HIV/Reproductive Health Certification training prior to become qualified to teach HIV/Reproductive health.
